New ECO²-Mode for the Vacuum Pump V-710

Modern laboratories request solutions which fulfill high economical as well as high ecological standards. Therefore future products have to be environmental friendly and have to meet targets such as low energy consumption, low solvent emissions, as well as low noise emissions, etc. The BUCHI Vacuum Pump V-710 together with the BUCHI Vacuum Controllers fulfill those requirements in a perfect way.
BUCHI has now developed for the Vacuum Pump V-710 without Vacuum Controller a special mode taking care of ecological and economical aspects. The ECO²-Mode has been developed for applications such as drying samples over night, evaporation of high boiling point solvents at low vacuum or because of budget reasons.

The new ECO²-Mode features the following advantages:

          Economical benefits:

  • The pump consumes less electrical power which reduces the running costs of the instrument
  • As a result of the ECO² Mode the pump works under reduced stress of all mechanical components (e.g. the strain of the membrane). Accordingly the maintenance cost will be reduced over the lifetime of the pump
  • According to the reduced stress of all mechanical components the lifetime of the pump will be increased
  • The frequency of the need of service and spare parts will be decreased

          Ecological benefits:

  • The pump works with less noise exposure which helps to reduce the general noise level in the lab. This again leads to an improvement in the lab environment which results in lab workers who can concentrated more and will increase their productivity.
  • The reduced energy consumption not only reduces the running costs but also helps the environment.
  • Reduced service times lead to reduced stress levels for the laboratory staff as they can focus on their target work and do not have be concerned with the instruments.
  • The secondary condensers prevent the evacuation of solvent vapors into the lab/environment.

How it works:

The ECO²-Mode is automatically activated when the pump is used without a Vacuum Controller:

  • The pump operates for the first operating hour at 100% speed
  • After 1 hour operation without interruption the pump reduces automatically the speed to 80% and operates for 1 hour at this speed rate. The final vacuum of the pump of 2 mbar (V-710) is not affected by the evacuation speed reduction.
  • After a total duration of 2 hours constant operation the pump reduces its speed to 50% of the total capacity of the pump. Again, the final vacuum of the pump of 2 mbar (V-710) is not affected by the evacuation speed reduction.
  • If the pump is switched off and on again it starts at its full speed and will change to the ECO²-Mode after 1 hour constant operation and the procedure will start as above described.

In case that the Vacuum Pump V-710 is utilized as a central lab source pump, we strongly recommend the combination with the LabVac Vacuum Controller V-802 to guarantee maximum evacuation power performance all the time.
