BUCHI Accepting Applications for Young Scientist NIR Award
BUCHI Corporation is welcoming applications for the 2011 BUCHI Young Scientist NIR Award.
BUCHI Corporation, a leading supplier of quality high-performance scientific laboratory products, is welcoming applications for the 2011 BUCHI Young Scientist NIR Award.
Since 2004, this Award has been presented to early-career scientists who had achieved outstanding results in the field of near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy while working on their diploma or doctoral thesis. The value of the award for 2011 is $2,000.
As part of BUCHI’s continued commitment to leadership in, and advancement of, NIR technology, we encourage all interested parties to apply by submitting their results, which, ideally, highlight or represent new basic applications of NIR spectroscopy. Only one application per author is accepted. Papers may be submitted even if they have been previously published.

The deadline to be considered for this year’s BUCHI Young Scientist NIR Award is August 15, 2011. All applications will be judged by an international review panel of recognized experts:
• Prof. Yukihiro Ozaki, Kwansei-Gakuin University, Kobe, Japan
• Prof. Tony Moffat, The School of Pharmacy, London, UK
• Dr. Mark Witkowski, US Food & Drug Administration, Columbus, USA
• Dr. Gerry Downey, Teagasc - Ashtown Food Research Center, Dublin, Ireland
• Prof. Marena Manley, Department of Food Science, Stellenbosch University, South Africa
The award announcement and presentation will be made at an appropriate future international scientific meeting, where the winner will also be provided the opportunity to present their results.
Financial support for individuals advancing the field of NIR spectroscopy by means of recognizing outstanding contributions to this field has been and remains an integral component of BUCHI's engagement with NIR technology.
