BUCHI Accepting Applications for Young Scientist NIR Award

us-sales(at)buchi.com

BUCHI Corporation is welcoming applications for the 2011 BUCHI Young Scientist NIR Award.

BUCHI Corporation, a leading supplier of quality high-performance scientific laboratory products, is welcoming applications for the 2011 BUCHI Young Scientist NIR Award.

Since 2004, this Award has been presented to early-career scientists who had achieved outstanding results in the field of near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy while working on their diploma or doctoral thesis. The value of the award for 2011 is $2,000.

As part of BUCHI’s continued commitment to leadership in, and advancement of, NIR technology, we encourage all interested parties to apply by submitting their results, which, ideally, highlight or represent new basic applications of NIR spectroscopy. Only one application per author is accepted. Papers may be submitted even if they have been previously published.

For more details, conditions, and rules concerning the application process, as well as to download the application form, please visit our website at: http://www.mybuchi.com/Terms-and-Conditions.30992.0.html

A list of previous winners may be found here: http://www.mybuchi.com/BUCHI-NIRAward.30993.0.html

The deadline to be considered for this year’s BUCHI Young Scientist NIR Award is August 15, 2011. All applications will be judged by an international review panel of recognized experts:

• Prof. Yukihiro Ozaki, Kwansei-Gakuin University, Kobe, Japan

• Prof. Tony Moffat, The School of Pharmacy, London, UK

• Dr. Mark Witkowski, US Food & Drug Administration, Columbus, USA

• Dr. Gerry Downey, Teagasc - Ashtown Food Research Center, Dublin, Ireland

• Prof. Marena Manley, Department of Food Science, Stellenbosch University, South Africa

The award announcement and presentation will be made at an appropriate future international scientific meeting, where the winner will also be provided the opportunity to present their results.

Financial support for individuals advancing the field of NIR spectroscopy by means of recognizing outstanding contributions to this field has been and remains an integral component of BUCHI's engagement with NIR technology.

For over 50 years, BUCHI has been known as the market leader, inventor and innovator of lab instruments based on Evaporation and Vacuum technologies, and as the supplier of the Rotavapor® products worldwide. In addition, BUCHI Corporation is a proven North American provider of spray dryers for pharmaceutical and food agglomeration and microencapsulation, Kjeldahl and solvent extraction equipment for environmental and food analysis, NIR spectroscopy instruments for pharmaceutical and food Quality Control, modular flash chromatography systems, and other related laboratory equipment. Headquartered in New Castle, Delaware, BUCHI Corporation is an affiliate of BUCHI Labortechnik AG (Flawil, Switzerland).
