Scale-up from the BUCHI Mini Spray Dryer B-290 to the Niro MOBILE MINOR

Best_BUCHI_52_Scale-up_B-290_Niro_MOBILE_MINOR.pdf

This Best@BUCHI describes a hands-on approach to perform a scale-up from initial trials in the research lab with the Mini Spray Dryer B-290 to laboratory production with the Niro MOBILE MINOR spray dryer. Guidelines to adjust the droplet size of the spray and the relationships between water evaporation rate, inlet and outlet temperature are explained. Trace Analysis of PAHs using the Extraction System B-811

Best_BUCHI_51_PAH.pdf

The Extraction System B-811 and the Syncore Analyst parallel concentrator from BUCHI as well as the Pressurized Solvent Extractor from Applied Separations were evaluated for the pretreatment of samples containing PAHs. Recoveries of extraction and subsequent concentration using acetone+n-hexane (1+1) were 70-95% for 2 ring and 90-100% for the less volatile 3-5 ring PAHs. A good precision (95% confidence level) of less than 6%, naphtalene excluded (12%), was found. No significant difference was observed between the two extraction methods.

Extraction System B-811

best_buch_50_Extraction_System_B_811_Low.pdf

We are presenting the use of BUCHI’s Extraction Unit B-811 for isolating polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/F) from solid environmental samples (soil, grass) under standard conditions and by means of hot extraction. The extracts received will be further processed by means of an internationally recognized method [1] and analyzed with high-resolution GC/MS in the single-ion monitoring (SIM) mode

A compilation of various methods for protein

Best_BUCHI_49_Milk_Kjeldahl_LOW.pdf

There are only few foodstuffs that are as closely connected to the history of mankind as milk. Domestic cows for milking were kept already in the 5th millenium B.C. and in India cows are considered holy to this day.

Determination of airborne mineral oils: an inter-laboratory comparison

Best_BUCHI_48_SUVA_low.pdf

Metalworking fluid aerosols, largely used in the Swiss watch making industry, are known to cause various respiratory ailments such as e.g. bronchitis and asthma. There are various techniques available to determine the concentration of airborne oil mists. The Syncore® Polyvap was scrutinized with respect to reliability and reproducibility in an interlaboraty comparison with five independent analytical Swiss laboratories using four different methodologies yielding excellent results and time savings compared to conventional evaporation methods. Find out more.
